Don’t Walk Away From Grace

Main Texts

  • Job 1:6–10
  • 1 Peter 5:8–10
  • 2 Corinthians 13:14

Introduction: The Consistency of God

Key Truth

God is not only faithful; He is consistent.

  • What God says, He will do.
  • God does not react to situations; He works according to His perfect plan.
  • Delays do not mean denial.
  • God is unfolding His purposes in His timing.
  • The chapter you are waiting for will open at the appointed time.

Key Scriptures

  • Numbers 23:19
  • Habakkuk 2:3

Declaration

“God can’t fail. What He has promised will surely come to pass.”

God Works Before We Pray

Illustration: David at Ziklag (1 Samuel 30)

Before David prayed:

  • The Amalekites had already raided Ziklag.
  • Three days had passed.
  • Humanly speaking, recovery seemed impossible.

Yet when David sought God:

“Pursue them, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”

Evidence of God’s Prior Work

God had already:

  • Positioned an abandoned Egyptian servant.
  • Preserved his life.
  • Arranged a divine connection to lead David to victory.

Lesson

Prayer does not start God’s work.
Prayer often reveals what God has already begun.

Takeaway

God is working behind the scenes long before we see the evidence.

The Devil Is On A Mission

1 Peter 5:8

“Be sober, be vigilant…”

The devil:

  • Is not wandering aimlessly.
  • Is actively seeking opportunities.
  • Looks for vulnerable believers.

Job 1 Insight

When God mentioned Job:

  • Satan already knew Job.
  • Satan knew Job’s protection.
  • Satan knew Job’s blessing.

This reveals:

The enemy recognizes spiritual covering.

Don’t Walk Away From Grace

What Is Grace?

Grace is:

  • God’s protection.
  • God’s covering.
  • God’s favor.
  • God’s empowering presence.

2 Corinthians 13:14

The believer needs:

  • The grace of Jesus Christ.
  • The love of God.
  • The fellowship of the Holy Spirit.

How People Walk Out Of Grace

1. Through Jealousy

Example: Cain (Genesis 4:7–8)

God warned Cain:

“Sin lies at the door.”

Instead of mastering jealousy:

  • Cain embraced it.
  • Cain murdered Abel.
  • Cain stepped outside God’s protection.

Lesson

Unchecked jealousy opens the door to destruction.

2. Through Rebellion

Example: Jonah (Jonah 1)

God said:

“Go to Nineveh.”

Jonah:

  • Chose his own path.
  • Rejected God’s instruction.
  • Left the place of grace.

Lesson

Partial obedience is disobedience.

3. Through Believing Another Gospel

Example: The Galatian Church (Galatians 3:1)

Paul asked:

“Who has bewitched you?”

The Galatians:

  • Abandoned truth.
  • Accepted deception.
  • Drifted from grace.

Lesson

False doctrine weakens spiritual protection.

4. Through Success Without Watchfulness

Example: Solomon (1 Kings 11)

Solomon:

  • Began well.
  • Was blessed greatly.
  • Allowed foreign influences to turn his heart.

Lesson

Blessing without vigilance can lead to compromise.

Signs You May Be Walking Out Of Grace

1. Fear Dominates Faith

  • Constant anxiety
  • Expecting the worst
  • Doubting God’s promises

2. Persistent Disobedience

  • Treating God’s commands as optional
  • Delayed obedience

3. Idols Take First Place

An idol is anything that occupies God’s place in your heart:

  • Money
  • Success
  • Relationships
  • Possessions

4. Corrupted Thinking

  • Unhealthy influences
  • Polluted imagination
  • Consuming content that weakens faith

5. Neglecting Daily Fellowship With God

  • Prayer becomes occasional
  • Scripture becomes secondary
  • Dependence shifts from God to self

Why We Need Grace

We Cannot Defeat The Enemy Alone

Peter thought:

“I will never deny You.”

Jesus knew otherwise.

Matthew 26

Peter relied on himself.
Jesus relied on grace.

Even after Peter failed:

  • Jesus restored him.
  • Jesus recovered him.

Lesson

Self-confidence cannot replace divine grace.

Staying Under Grace

Practical Ways

1. Stay Alert Spiritually

  • Be sober.
  • Be vigilant.
  • Guard your heart.

2. Remain In Faith

  • Trust God’s promises.
  • Refuse fear.
  • Expect God’s goodness.

3. Maintain Daily Fellowship

  • Prayer

4. Keep God First

  • Remove competing idols.
  • Prioritize His presence.

5. Stay In The Right Company

  • Avoid influences that weaken faith.
  • Surround yourself with people who encourage spiritual growth.

Encouragement

God’s Promise

  • God knows what He is doing.
  • God has gone ahead of you.
  • God is working even when you cannot see it.
  • What God is doing for you is greater than what the enemy is doing against you.

Key Declaration

“I will not become a statistic in the enemy’s report. I remain under the grace of God. I am protected, favored, and preserved in Christ.”

Closing Prayer Points

  1. Lord, keep me under Your grace and covering.
  2. Help me remain vigilant and steadfast in faith.
  3. Deliver me from every distraction that pulls me away from You.
  4. Let fear never dominate my heart.
  5. Let Your favor and protection rest upon me daily.
  6. Everything You have promised concerning me shall come to pass.
  7. I will recover all that belongs to me.
  8. I will not be vulnerable to the enemy.
  9. Your plans for my life will prevail.
  10. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
