Sermon Notes: Know Your Place

Text: Genesis 11:29

Introduction

God remains constant regardless of our circumstances. Situations may change, but God does not.

Isaiah 40:28 (MSG) – “God doesn’t come and go. God lasts.”

No matter what you are facing:

  • God is not tired of you.
  • God has not abandoned you.
  • God is faithful.
  • Your circumstance does not redefine God’s nature.

Key Truth

God’s faithfulness is not determined by whether you have received your miracle yet.
He is faithful because that is His nature.

1. Choose Faith Over Fear

Personal Testimony

The speaker shared a season of intense fear and anxiety, even to the point of being afraid to travel.

During prayer, the Holy Spirit said:

“Fear will always be there, but you must choose whether to be fearful or faithful.”

Fear vs. Faithful

  • Fearful = Full of fear
  • Faithful = Full of faith

How to Overcome Fear

The Holy Spirit instructed:

“Focus on My Word.”

What you focus on becomes magnified.

Practical Steps

  • Read the Word daily.
  • Speak the Word continually.
  • Declare God’s promises aloud.
  • Build faith through Scripture meditation.

Romans 10:17

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

Key Lesson

Faith rises as God’s Word fills your heart.

2. Never Question God’s Love

One of Satan’s greatest attacks is to make believers question whether God loves them.

Proof of God’s Love

1 John 3:16

We know God’s love because Christ laid down His life for us.

God’s love is not measured by:

  • Wealth
  • Relationships
  • Possessions
  • Success

It is measured by the Cross.

Personalize Salvation

Instead of saying:

“Jesus died for the world”

Say:

“Jesus died for me.”

Key Lesson

You are loved, valued, and worth dying for.

3. God Makes Us Able

Matthew 11:28-29

Jesus invites us:

“Come unto Me… and learn of Me.”

Ephesians 2:10

We are:

  • God’s workmanship
  • Created for good works
  • Ordained for purpose

Key Truth

God does not call the qualified; He qualifies the called.

4. Know Your Place in God’s Kingdom

Main Theme: “Know Your Place”

Every believer has:

  • A purpose
  • An assignment
  • A place in God’s plan

Important Truth

No destiny is greater than another.

God rewards:

  • Faithfulness
  • Service
  • Obedience

Not titles or positions.

Service vs. Office

An office is simply a platform for service.

5. Learn from John the Baptist

John 1:19-31

When asked who he was, John refused to claim a position God had not given him.

Instead he said:

“I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness.”

John identified himself by:

  • Purpose
  • Assignment
  • Calling

Not by title.

Key Lesson

Know who you are.
Know what God sent you to do.

Stop trying to be someone else.

You are an original.

6. Your Identity Is Not Your Possessions

Many define themselves by:

  • Careers
  • Titles
  • Wealth
  • Achievements

But these things change.

Reflection Question

Who are you when all these things are removed?

True identity comes from:

  • Christ
  • Purpose
  • Assignment

7. Enter God’s Rest

Many believers are struggling because they have not entered God’s rest.

Rest Comes When:

  • You trust God.
  • You accept your assignment.
  • You stop comparing yourself with others.

Key Principle

Don’t spend your life chasing what God never called you to pursue.

Focus on your assignment.

8. Speak What God Says About You

Psalm 103:20

Angels respond to the voice of God’s Word.

The Word must be spoken.

Why Speaking Matters

God is a speaking God.

The spirit realm responds to words.

Declare:

  • I am loved.
  • I am God’s child.
  • I am righteous.
  • I am blessed.
  • I am favored.

Key Lesson

If you don’t speak God’s Word over yourself, the world will label you.

9. The Power of the Tongue

Proverbs 18:21

Life and death are in the power of the tongue.

What You Speak Matters

Speak:

  • Life
  • Faith
  • Hope
  • Healing
  • Favor

Avoid:

  • Negative confessions
  • Self-condemnation
  • Fearful declarations

Practical Application

Bless yourself daily.

Bless:

  • Your children
  • Your family
  • Your future

10. Build a Strong Word Foundation

Colossians 3:16

Let the Word of Christ dwell richly in you.

Luke 6:45

Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

Whatever fills your heart eventually comes out.

Key Lesson

Store God’s Word in your heart before trouble comes.
