Sermon Notes

Topic: Give to Gain (The Kingdom Principle)

Key Texts:

  • Luke 6:38“Give, and it shall be given unto you…”
  • Acts 20:35“It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
  • John 3:16“For God so loved the world that He gave…”
  • Matthew 6:20“Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven…”

1. The Principle of Giving

Giving is not optional in God’s kingdom—it is a law.

  • Whatever you give returns back to you.
  • You don’t control the return—you only control what you give.
  • Therefore: Give good things.

Your life is not meant for withholding, but for releasing.

2. God’s Pattern: Giving Produces Increase

God Himself modeled giving:

  • He gave His best (Jesus) → received many sons (us).
  • One seed can produce a harvest beyond imagination.

Truth:

You can never outgive God.

3. Giving Impacts Generations

  • Exodus principle: blessings reach 3rd and 4th generation
  • A good man leaves inheritance for children’s children

Insight:

Your giving is not just for you—it is for your lineage.

4. Types of Giving

A. Sacrificial Giving (Faith-Based)

Example: Widow of Zarephath (1 Kings 17)

  • Gave her last meal
  • Acted in faith, not logic

Lesson:

What looks like loss can be the gateway to survival and abundance.

B. Giving Out of What You Have

Example: Boy with five loaves & two fish (John 6)

  • Gave willingly
  • God multiplied it

Lesson:

When you release what you have, God multiplies it beyond you.

C. Generational/Legacy Giving

Example: Abraham’s tithe

  • Blessed generations after him

Lesson:

Some blessings you enjoy today are from someone else’s giving.

D. Giving Through Forgiveness

Example: Joseph (Genesis 50)

  • Forgave those who hurt him deeply

Lesson:

Forgiveness is one of the highest forms of giving.

E. Intentional (Seed) Giving

  • Like a farmer planting for harvest
  • Give with expectation, not doubt

Lesson:

Every seed carries a future harvest.

5. Kingdom vs World System

  • World says: Keep and save
  • God says: Release and receive

Truth:

God’s economy contradicts human logic—but it never fails.

6. Powerful Biblical Examples of Giving

  • Widow’s mite → gave all she had
  • Hannah → gave Samuel back to God
  • Mary (anointing Jesus) → gave costly perfume
  • Peter → gave his boat → received abundance
  • Early Church → shared everything → grew stronger
  • Dorcas → gave consistently → remembered and restored
  • Ruth → gave loyalty → gained destiny

7. Giving Is Not Only Money

You can give:

  • Time
  • Service
  • Love
  • Worship
  • Encouragement
  • Faithfulness
  • Strength

True giving is a lifestyle, not an event.

8. The Heart of Giving

  • Give in love
  • Give willingly
  • Give sacrificially
  • Give without judging where it goes

Key Question:

Who are you really giving to—man or God?

9. Eternal Perspective

  • Earthly things don’t go to heaven
  • Your giving builds your heavenly treasure

Your giving today is your investment in eternity.

10. The Power of Generosity

  • Giving strengthens faith
  • Encourages others
  • Touches lives
  • Builds the kingdom

Someone will thank you in heaven because you gave.

11. Special Charge (Especially to Women)

  • Giving expresses compassion and leadership
  • Your support, sacrifice, and faithfulness matter
  • You are builders of homes, faith, and generations

12. Call to Reflection

Ask yourself:

  • What am I withholding?
  • What can I release to God?
  • What sacrifice can I make?

13. Prayer Points

  • Lord, give me the grace to give.
  • I will not withhold what You ask of me.
  • Let my giving bless future generations.
  • I receive abundance and overflow.
  • My life will be a channel of blessing.

Closing Thought

“Give to gain. When you release what is in your hand, God releases what is in His.”
